Oxford welcomes artwork and creativity with new mural

In the spring of 2026, a new red hawk will be welcomed into Oxford – but not a Miami University RedHawk. This “larger than life” red-tailed hawk will be seen in a new mural on the Uptown parking garage on Walnut Street. However, the red-tailed hawk is not the main focus of the artwork.

Miami University’s search for a provost continued Thursday with a campus forum in Benton Hall led by Tom Fitch, a consultant from Storbeck Search, which is the firm hired to assist with the process. Faculty, staff and students were invited to share input on what makes the position appealing, what challenges the university faces and what qualities they want in the next provost.

Miami celebrates annual National Campus Children's Center week

Throughout the week, the Miami Child Development Center chalked the campus sidewalk on Monday, hosted Renate Crawford for a reading time on Friday, brought the Miami softball team to play with the kids outside Thursday morning and later that day held a “read across Western campus" for the National Campus Children's Center week.

Taylor Swift dropped her highly anticipated 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on Oct. 3, and I haven’t been the same since.Full of cheeky double entendres, glitter-gel-pen pop and high-profile interpolations, this album is a sharp departure from her more melancholy previous release, "The Tortured Poets Department.” It’s also everything I could want out of an album, especially one Swift said came from an “infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place.”

"Throughout the years, Miami’s chapter of Students For Justice in Palestine (SJP) has hosted numerous fundraisers for humanitarian aid in Gaza, protests and encampments. Advocacy has been difficult, however, as many students – especially those who have recently immigrated to the U.S. – hesitate to show their support for Palestine in the wake of governmental opposition."
